High-flying romance

00:30

Dreams of flying high in ancient and modern times have overlapped!

A woman dressed as the flying apsara often depicted in Dunhuang murals danced as China's Shenzhou-18 manned spacecraft blasted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gansu Province on April 25.

A video showing the scene went viral online, with netizens touched by the sense of romance spanning over a thousand years.

The flying apsaras are often regarded as the symbol of the Mogao Grottoes, the remarkable Chinese Buddhist caves also located in Gansu famed for their ancient paintings, murals and statues.
