Is it proper for representatives of the U.S. government to take such a harsh stance against the pro-Palestine protests that have lately intensified on college campuses across the United States, the UK and France? Ray Baker, an adjunct professor at Towson University, lashes out at the U.S. political system, pointing out ironically that it's proper in the sense that the system is committed to maintaining U.S. global hegemony. And the way U.S. authorities are handling the movement, Baker points out, "invites us to reflect on...the way that we adjudicate this discrepancy with our public policy by bringing in our armed wing of enforcement to restrain protests and get people back under control."
