A photography enthusiast recently captured a stunning moment in Erdaoqiao Village, Kangding City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, during the courtship ritual of the white eared-pheasant, a nationally protected species. The male, adorned in vibrant plumage, displayed its colors and performed an intricate dance to attract a mate.
The species is omnivorous, with its primary diet consisting of plant matter such as stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds and crops. It also supplements its diet by occasionally eating insects and small animals. In addition to Sichuan, the species is also found in Xizang, Guizhou, Guangxi and Yunnan in China.
