Death toll rises to 36 after road collapse in south China's Guangdong

At least 36 people had died as of 5:30 a.m. on Thursday after part of an expressway collapsed in south China's Guangdong Province early on Wednesday morning.

Another 30 people are receiving hospital treatment and none of them are in a life-threatening condition, according to authorities in Meizhou City. The collapsed section on the Meizhou-Dabu Expressway measures 17.9 meters long and covers an area of 184.3 square meters. Twenty-three vehicles plunged down the hillside.
