Police in riot gear moved in to start removing barricades around a protest encampment at the University of California, Los Angeles, early Thursday morning as unrest over Israel's conflict against Hamas in Gaza simmers on U.S. campuses.

CNN footage showed police removing some railings and wooden boards, with several protesters being detained by officers.
