From Ivy League universities to local state universities across the United States, students across at least 50 universities have set up tents in support of the people of Gaza. Protest activities have continued to spread in recent weeks. According to statistics from the Associated Press, since mid-April, when the police began clearing the protesters' camp at Columbia University, over 2,000 people have been arrested on the campuses of dozens of universities in the United States.

CGTN interviewed local protesters at a protest site in New York. "It's really the cops that are escalating the situations," one youth said, adding, "Our encampments are very peaceful; rarely people come in and come out." Another interviewee said that she cares for Palestinian people but doesn't support students' protests.
