Liu Zhenmin, China's special envoy for climate change, will lead a delegation to the U.S. from May 7 to 16 for talks with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Podesta, the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced on Tuesday.
Guided by the consensus of the two heads of state, the two sides will hold detailed discussions on the Sunnylands Statement on Enhancing Cooperation to Address the Climate Crisis and other agreements. They will also discuss promoting China-U.S. climate cooperation to achieve tangible results, according to the ministry.
The ministry added that Liu will engage with relevant United Nations parties and local governments and think tanks in the United States on addressing climate change and other issues.
