Graphics: China, France witness growing educational exchanges

Over 1,500 French students are enrolled in institutions in China, according to the Chinese Ministry of Education. A report from the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research shows that China was the top third country of origin of students with a foreign nationality registered in France in the 2022-2023 period, behind Morocco and Algeria.

On the cultural side, language programs from the two countries have been expanded to foster exchanges. Chinese universities, for example, have established 148 undergraduate, 34 master's degree and 10 doctoral French teaching sites, while 18 Confucius Institutes and a Confucius Classroom have been established in France.

Meanwhile, collaborative academic initiatives have flourished, seeing the establishment of 69 joint programs spanning levels above undergraduate and involving 54 Chinese and 67 French universities.
