University students in Ontario and Manitoba in Canada have staged campus sit-ins in response to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The central lawn of the University of Toronto campus has been taken over by protesting students since May 2. They set up tents to show solidarity with Palestinian people and call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
CGTN Stringer interviewed the protesters at the University of Toronto. Deborah Cowen, a Jewish professor who supports the protest, said Jewish faculty and students joined other students together to pray for a ceasefire. Erin, a student at the university, said she's about to graduate but she decided to join the protests after thinking about the thousands of students in Gaza who are not able to graduate because their universities no longer exist.
