China is willing to launch an initiative with France to call for a global truce during the Olympic Games in Paris this summer, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday.
Xi made the remarks when he met the press with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
Xi pointed out that the world is far from tranquil. As a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a responsible major country, China is ready to work with France to advocate for a cessation of hostilities around the world during the Paris Olympic Games.
