On the evening of May 7, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Belgrade, starting his state visit to Serbia. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his wife welcomed Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan at the airport.

Xi has met with Vucic on multiple occasions. He said Serbia is an ironclad friend of China and that the relationship between the two countries has withstood the test of international changes, serving as a model for China's friendly relations with European countries.
