The Joint Council of the International Cooperation Center and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative Office in China held the first China press conference of the "2024 Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and Pacific" in Beijing on Monday. Steven Alan Barnett, the IMF's senior resident representative in China, highlighted three key points on China's productivity reform, in an exclusive interview with CGTN reporter Peng Weizi.
Barnett also shared important findings from this year's regional outlook study. The IMF predicts that China will contribute over a quarter of world economic growth in 2024, and every one percentage point of China's economic growth will lift the level of GDP in other economies by 0.3 percent over time, providing a welcome lift to global demand.
