Perched atop Tazishan Mountain in Anyue County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, Pilu Cave is adorned with over 400 surviving cliffside stone sculptures meticulously carved by craftsmen during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Among its renowned sculptures is the Zizhu Guanyin, the "purple bamboo bodhisattva of great mercy," housed within the Guanyin Hall. Sheltered by a grove of purple bamboo, this divine figure, carved during the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), has endured for over a millennium.
