Compared to China, sausage is a more commonly consumed food in Hungary. As one of the traditional delicacies in the central European country, sausage is normally served as breakfast or a snack.
Usually made with pork, chili powder and spices, Hungarian sausages often undergo a number of processes, such as smoke-curing or fermentation, which gives them a unique flavor and taste. What makes the Hungarian sausages different from the vast number and varieties of sausages found in Europe is their spicy flavor. Some kinds of the sausages in Hungary also serve as ingredients for other dishes.
At this year's Vamos-Toros Festival showcasing traditional Hungarian gastronomy and folk music, a 3,972-meter-long grilled sausage was displayed at a food tent in Sajovamos, near Miskolc, northeast of the capital Budapest. To prepare this almost 4-kilometer-long sausage, some three tons of minced pork and spices were used.
