Chinese President Xi Jinping is visiting France, Serbia and Hungary from May 5 to 10, his first trip to Europe in nearly five years. The trip is of great significance to the overall development of China-Europe relations and is expected to inject new impetus into world peace and development. CGTN invited European stringers to conduct interviews with local residents and experts in neighboring countries such as the United Kingdom, Italy and Bulgaria on the Chinese president's visit to Europe. British national John McLean, chair of the China-UK Business Development Centre as well as the Institute of Directors for the City of London, has made numerous trips between the two countries over the past 25 years. McLean said that Xi's latest trip to Europe is a welcome development. Irish retiree Jim Curran noted that President Xi Jinping's meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron sent out many positive signals and expressed hope that China and Ireland will play important roles in the fields of trade, culture and art.
