Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, on Thursday visited the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school with Aniko Levai, wife of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in Budapest, encouraging students to contribute to inheriting and promoting China-Hungary friendship.
Peng and Levai observed Chinese language classes and traditional Chinese culture classes such as paper cutting and calligraphy, and had cordial exchanges with the students.
Noting that the school is a symbol of China-Hungary friendship, Peng said she is glad to see that the students speak Chinese very well, and expressed her hope that the students will work hard to learn Chinese and Chinese culture, as well as visit or study in China.
Peng and Levai watched a video of the school's 20-year development together, as well as the students' talent displays such as dance, poetry recitation and chorus, and took photos with the students.
Before leaving, Peng presented a batch of books introducing Chinese culture to the school.
Founded in 2004, the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school is a 12-year fully bilingual public school that uses Chinese and Hungarian for instruction.
