The Shanxi Provincial Library is one of the national-level ancient book restoring centers in China. The library has restored more than 6,000 ancient rubbings. They are mainly rubbings of stone tablets from the Qing Dynasty (1916-1911) and the following period of the Republic of China (1912-1945).
