A huge solar storm has begun pummeling Earth, bringing disruption to satellites and power grids, and creating stunning auroras. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a rare severe geomagnetic storm warning for the solar outburst that hit Earth on Friday afternoon, hours sooner than anticipated. Auroras were also reported across many countries, including China, UK, U.S. and Germany. The effects are expected to last into next week.
