Chinese President Xi Jinping was in Hungary on the third and final stop of his first European tour in five years from May 5-10 as the two countries are elevating their ties to an "all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership" and celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. China and Hungary are moving forward in the construction of key projects such as the Budapest-Belgrade railway and mull cooperation in the nuclear industry. How has Hungary's "Eastern Opening" strategy benefited both sides? In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Zou Yun sat down with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to discuss how Hungary stands out politically and ideologically in the European Union as the country is set to take over the rotating EU Presidency in July 2024. Orbán notes that now more than ever, the world needs strong leaders and deplores the internationalization of the conflict in Ukraine by the West. "Peace, harmony and cooperation are better than war," he says, praising China's role as a force for peace and cooperation with the Belt and Road Initiative.
