Exclusive footage revealed Philippine fishermen illegally landing on Huangyan Island in the South China Sea. They were seen dumping garbage into a lagoon and urinating and spitting into the water.
Philippine fishermen have been observed engaging in environmentally destructive behavior in the waters near the islands and reefs of the South China Sea. The hull of a Philippine military vessel illegally grounded on Ren'ai Reef shows signs of corrosion, with evidence of pollution from residual fuel oil. Over the years, this has caused considerable damage to the marine environment. Additionally, the personnel stationed on these vessels contribute to ocean pollution by throwing their waste into the water. Chinese research and law enforcement vessels have repeatedly retrieved plastic waste with Philippine markings.
