The death toll from floods in Brazil's southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul rose to 147, while 127 people are still missing, according to authorities on May 13. Two weeks of record rainfall has unleashed flooding and mudslides across the state, affecting more than 2.11 million people in 447 cities. Heavy rains have caused several rivers and lakes in the region to hit their highest levels ever.
