Protecting biodiversity is the key to ensuring sustainable economic and social development. A list of national parks has been created in both China and France to ensure that biodiversity is well preserved in both countries.

For example, the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park in south China's Hainan Province is among the country's first batch of national parks established in 2021. It is also home to China's largest insular rainforest and a treasure trove of tropical plants and animals. Many rare and endangered species find habitats in the park, including the Hainan black-crested gibbon, a species under first-class state protection in China.

Similarly, as one of the largest national parks in France, the Cevennes National Park also stands out for its crucial role in protecting biodiversity. Located in southern France and neighboring Provence, it has a forest cover of around 70 percent. Home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, it was designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in 1985.
