The Huangyan Island is China's inherent territory and China has indisputable sovereignty over the island and its adjacent waters, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Wednesday.
In 2016, China made good-faith arrangements for a small number of Philippine fishing boats to conduct normal fishing activities in the waters near Huangyan Island, said Wang.
If the Philippines abuses China's goodwill, China will safeguard its rights and take countermeasures in accordance with the law, Wang added.
