It has been 10 years since China's Grand Canal, or the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. In April 2023, in east China's Fujian Province, a team led by Zheng Chunhui, a representative inheritor of Putian wood carving, a national intangible cultural heritage, began a five-year journey of creating to a giant wood carving of the canal. The artwork is composed of nine camphor trees that are over 500 years old and showcases the prosperous canal transportation and the cultural landscapes of the cities along its banks.
