Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday wished wounded Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico a speedy recovery.

In his message, Li extended sympathy to Fico who was shot several times on Wednesday in an assassination attempt that sent shock waves across Europe.

Premier Li said he's shocked by the attack which Slovak ministers said was politically motivated.

Fico remains in serious but stable condition and is able to speak a little, the country's President-Elect Peter Pellegrini said on Thursday.
