Nearly 2,000 herons have flown to the Salawusu National Wetland Park in Erdos City, China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, to build nests and raise chicks. Heron nests are densely scattered among the branches of tall trees. In May, most herons finish hatching and enter the nursery period, with three to five chicks in each nest.
