Brazil will host the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, announced the sport's global governing body at the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday.

"Congratulations to Brazil," FIFA President Gianni Infantino said.

"We will have the best World Cup in Brazil. Many thanks as well to the BNG bid, who have been fantastic."

The BNG refers to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, who jointly bid to host the 10th edition of the quadrennial event but lost in an open vote that Brazil won 119 to 78.

Brazil beat the BNG on hosting criteria including facilities, accommodation, transportation and fan zones, among others, according to a report released by FIFA, as they become the first South American country to host the women's World Cup after hosting the men's twice in 1950 and 2014.

The U.S. and Mexico withdrew their joint bid last month and said they would focus on bidding to host the following edition, so did South Africa who withdrew last year in November. Meanwhile, the U.S., Mexico and Canada are hosting the next men's event in the summer of 2026.

"We knew we would be celebrating a victory for South American women's soccer and for women," said president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodrigues.

"You can be sure, with no vanity, we will accomplish the best World Cup for women," he added.

"We are working on a transformation, not only for the country but for the continent," said Valesca Araujo, the operational manager of Brazil's bid team.

The 2027 women's event format is consistent with the last edition in Australia and New Zealand, an will again feature a total of 32 teams.
