Japan started the sixth round of the release of nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific Ocean.
About 7,800 tonnes of nuclear-contaminated wastewater is being discharged from about a kilometer off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture via an underwater tunnel until June 4. About 39,000 tonnes of nuclear-contaminated wastewater has been released into the sea over five previous rounds since last August.
