CGTN

Over 88 percent of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) respondents to a CGTN survey said that Taiwan region is an inalienable part of Chinese territory and 87 percent said that the relevant LAC countries should sever their "diplomatic ties" with Taiwan and establish relations with China.

CGTN conducted a survey of 6,406 LAC respondents to gauge their understanding of the Taiwan question.

The survey respondents expressed common views on the resolution of the Taiwan question, recognizing the efforts of the Chinese government in implementing its unification policies and plans. They said China's "strategic patience" was an effective tactic to promote peaceful unification.

They also emphasized the importance of avoiding external intervention, especially by the United States, as it could deteriorate the situation in Taiwan.

The respondents called on adhering to diplomatic efforts and peaceful means to resolve the Taiwan question as well as bringing the two sides of the Taiwan Straits closer through economic and cultural ties.
