Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China and Kazakhstan are exploring more ambitious trade goals while holding a joint press conference with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu on Monday in Astana, Kazakhstan.

"So far, 26 of the 45 production capacity cooperation projects established by China and Kazakhstan have been completed, involving metallurgy and minerals, energy resources, machinery manufacturing, building materials and chemicals and infrastructure construction. The pace of oil and gas and nuclear energy cooperation between the two sides is also accelerating," Wang told the press.

The two sides agreed to continue to give full play to their complementary advantages in industry and market for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, he said.

The two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation in traditional areas such as economy and trade, investment, energy, connectivity and agriculture and continue to forge cooperation highlights in areas such as finance, artificial intelligence, digital economy and new energy.

Wang said China is willing to expand imports of high-quality agricultural products from Kazakhstan.

Both sides have also decided to further strengthen cooperation on China-Europe freight trains and create more convenient conditions for this purpose, including upgrading the customs clearance and cargo transportation capacity of the ports and providing better transportation services and transit policies, he said.
