Manchester City became the first club in Premier League history to win four consecutive titles after they beat West Ham 3-1 on Sunday with a double from Phil Foden and another by Rodri.

The title was decided on the final day for the 10th time, with City edging out Arsenal who were two points short of the leaders before Sunday but had an advantage in goal difference.

The only chance Arsenal stood to win was if City dropped points. But that rarely looked like happening, and Arsenal's 2-1 win over Everton was in vain. Meanwhile, Liverpool, who led the standings earlier in the season, fell off the pace in the past month and finished third in Jurgen Klopp's final year in charge.

Foden put City ahead just two minutes in with a long-range shot into the top corner and doubled their lead in the 18th minute with a pass from Jeremy Doku. West Ham's Mohammed Kudus scored a bicycle kick before half-time to briefly bring his side into the game, before a 59th-minute low shot by Rodri from outside the box set the Etihad Stadium and home crowd in early celebration mode.

"It's so hard to put into words what we've done today," said Foden. "No team has ever done it. You see what it means to the fans and it means to us. Working all year for this moment."

City's Erling Haaland did not score in the showdown, but still won back-to-back golden boot awards with 27 goals, five clear of second-placed Cole Palmer of Chelsea.

City, on an 23-match unbeaten run, have the chance to achieve a double should they beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final next Saturday.

Meanwhile, coach Pep Guardiola raised doubts in a post-match interview about whether he would stay after his current contract expires at the end of next season.

"The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying [after next season]," he said. "We have talked with the club, my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season and during the season we will talk. But eight or nine years… we will see."
