Ceramics are everywhere, used to make everything from household items and decorations to everyday utensils and artwork. In Jingdezhen, ceramics are not only a craft but also a cultural heritage passed down for thousands of years.
Denis Neymark, a ceramic artist from the United States, visited Jingdezhen nine years ago to study ceramics, fell in love with the city and stayed. In this video, Dennis visits the Expo Area of Ancient Kiln and Folk Cultures in Jingdezhen to explore the porcelain culture and visit the ancient kilns of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Denis also hits the Jingdezhen ceramic market to talk about what it feels like to live in Jingdezhen with ceramic artists from different countries. Jaume, a ceramic artist, believes that Jingdezhen has everything for ceramic lovers. Dennis said Jingdezhen's ceramic culture and techniques have lasted for thousands of years, and artists have passed them on and carried them forward to the present day.
