China is ready to expand economic and trade cooperation with Kazakhstan, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said while meeting with Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on Monday.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said China expects the two sides will reach a consensus on a new version of the bilateral investment treaty as soon as possible.
It is hoped that the Kazakh side will provide a favorable business environment to facilitate Chinese enterprises to invest and do businesses in Kazakhstan.
China is willing to work with Kazakhstan to strengthen cooperation in areas such as oil and gas resources, continue to enhance the efficiency and quality of connectivity, and expand cooperation in emerging industries and foster new quality productive forces, Wang said.
He said China supports the two countries in expanding tourism cooperation and strengthening people-to-people exchanges.
Nurtleu said the Kazakh side is willing to work with the Chinese side to promote the continued rapid development of bilateral ties in the spirit of good-neighborliness and mutual respect, expand pragmatic cooperation in various fields, such as the economy, trade and agriculture, and deepen tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
He said the Kazakh side firmly adheres to the one-China principle.
