Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday met with his Kyrgyz counterpart Jeenbek Kulubaev on the sidelines of the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, urged China and Kyrgyzstan to focus on building a China-Kyrgyzstan community of shared future, deepen political mutual trust and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as a focal point.

China is willing to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, expand connectivity, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and build a China-Kyrgyzstan community of shared future with concrete actions, Wang said.

Wang also said he appreciated the Kyrgyz side's support for China's position immediately after the outcomes of the Taiwan regional leadership election.

Kulubaev said that Kyrgyzstan firmly abides by the one-China principle and firmly supports China on issues related to Xinjiang, Xizang and Hong Kong.

Kyrgyzstan looks forward to intensifying high-level exchanges with China, increasing the scale of trade, facilitating people-to-people exchanges, and consolidating cooperation in multilateral mechanisms, he said.

The Kyrgyz foreign minister invited more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Kyrgyzstan and expressed willingness to sign an intergovernmental agreement between China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in order to start constructing a railway that connects the three countries at an early date.
