The Canadian government on Tuesday announced new sanctions against Russia, targeting two senior representatives of Russian enterprises and six Russian shipping companies. Canada claimed these individuals and organizations were involved in procuring weapons for Russia from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Both Russia and the DPRK have earlier dismissed allegations of arms transfers by the U.S. and its allies.
"Today's sanctions target individuals and entities that facilitated the illegal transportation of weapons, including ballistic missiles, from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to Russia," Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said.
