In the 1980s, numerous dinosaur fossils from the Middle Jurassic period were discovered in Zigong City, Sichuan Province. The Zigong Dinosaur Museum was established in 1987 and became the first dinosaur museum in Asia, where it has the largest number of dinosaur fossils in the world.

As a museum built on fossil relics, the Zigong Dinosaur Museum has in recent years embraced modern science and technology to upgrade the exhibition and bring the fossils to life for visitors. A new immersive space with cutting-edge technology was created in 2023, featuring more than 10 interactive displays that use the latest AR, VR, 3D mapping, laser and smart guide systems to vividly illustrate the entire process of dinosaur reproduction and fossilization.

A special exhibition uses projection equipment and temperature control devices to vividly show scenes of a dinosaur hatching. Visiting children often rush to "warm" the dinosaur eggs with their hands and watch the entire hatching process.
Through three-dimensional digital technology, 360-degree high-resolution images and other scientific and technological means, the Zigong Dinosaur Museum presents rare dinosaur fossils and geological exhibits to their audience in a creative way, making their displays easier to understand, lively and engaging. The museum not only brings the Jurassic world to life, but also serves as a classroom for natural history education.
