Fujian, a fully-fledged transportation hub in China

During the past decade, the coastal province of Fujian has made remarkable progress in the construction of transportation infrastructure. So far, a wide transportation network, including roads, railways, airlines and water transportation, has been developed across the province, offering easy connections with other parts of China and rest of the world.

Fujian has a highly accessible transport network. After years of development, all the province's cities have been linked by high-speed railway and all counties connected by expressways. Every township has access to trunk roads and public bus services are available in every single village. According to a report by the Railway Construction and Development Center of Fujian, as of September last year, the railways in service stretched 4,658 kilometers, of which 2,183 km were high-speed rail. According to the Fujian Statistical Yearbook 2023, by the end of 2022, the length of road networks exceeded 112,878 km, of which almost 6,000 km were expressways.

Fujian also boasts several world-renowned ports, such as the Fuzhou Port, Xiamen Port, Quanzhou Port and Putian Port, which can accommodate the largest vessels in the world. Rankings released by the Shanghai International Shipping Research Center in 2022 showed that the Fuzhou and Xiamen Ports were ranked among the world's best in terms of cargo throughput, while the Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou Ports were ranked among the world's top 100 container ports.

As for air transportation, Fujian has six major airports, including Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, Fuzhou Changle International Airport and Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport. So far, there are over 400 domestic and international air routes being operated by airlines in the province, reaching major cities around the world.
