On May 17, the U.S. opened a temporary pier in Gaza's Nuseirat and announced it was bringing supplies to the Gaza Strip. Large numbers of displaced people in Gaza gathered there, but after hours of agonized waiting, many ended up with nothing. One of the displaced people, Abu Nasser Abu Khousa, said the U.S. is sending weapons to Israel and vetoing the draft ceasefire resolution while claiming to provide "aid" to Gaza, but, in reality, it is doing nothing to help Gazans. "They claim to save us, but they kill us and even let us die in search of supplies," he said.
