Leopard seen at Gaoligong Mountain National Nature Reserve in Yunnan

00:52

May 22 marks the 24th International Day for Biological Diversity. This year's theme, "Be part of the Plan," is a call to action for all stakeholders to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. Researchers recently spotted a leopard at the Gaoligong Mountain National Nature Reserve in southwest China's Yunnan Province. Under first-class state protection in China, the leopard needs a large natural habitat to thrive. Scientific researchers have recorded 76 species of rare wild animals in the region in recent years, including jackals, clouded leopards and white-tailed pheasants, 49 of which are under national protection in China.
