Scented sachets are closely associated with the Dragon Boat Festival as people don the accessory in the hope of warding off evil, repelling insects, or preventing sweat. In the village of Huainan, east China's Anhui Province, residents are harvesting, boiling and sorting herbs to fill embroidered sachets. These herbs are planted in autumn every year and then harvested at the beginning of summer the following year. Among their processes is scalding the fresh herbs in boiling water. Soon, these fragrant pouches will be hung up or worn around China as the festival approaches.
