The question of what awaits a coach that steered a team to a woeful conclusion in the Premier League, with a paltry 24 points and a mere five victories, resulting in a devastating relegation from the top flight, is a conundrum. But in a twist of fate, a glimmer of hope emerges through a phone call from one of the revered giants in world football.

According to multiple media outlets, Bayern Munich, the illustrious German powerhouse, appears to be nearing the end of their protracted search for a new coach, with none other than Vincent Kompany from Burnley set to claim the coveted position.

Bayern has faced their fair share of frustrations in their quest to find a suitable successor for the departed Thomas Tuchel, who bid farewell after a trophy-less season. Although Tuchel's departure had been agreed upon since February, the club's desperation led them to make futile attempts at persuading him to reconsider. However, when Tuchel remained resolute in sticking to the original plan, Bayern swiftly shifted their focus to Kompany, identifying him as the prime candidate to fill the void in their coaching ranks.

Kompany has managed to carve out a decent reputation during his tenure at Burnley, successfully leading the team back into the Premier League at the first attempt. However, the subsequent relegation of his team, despite lofty pre-season expectations, has certainly tarnished his image to some extent.

It is only natural that eyebrows will be raised at the prospect of Kompany securing such a significant coaching position. Nevertheless, there is a prevailing sentiment that the 38-year-old's progressive style of play could harmonize well with a more well-rounded and accomplished team like Bayern.

It has come to light that talks between Burnley's owner, Alan Pace, and Bayern officials regarding compensation for Kompany took place on Wednesday. It is hoped that a deal can be finalized by the end of this week.

Bayern have been entangled in a web of managerial speculation over the past three months. Various names have been linked with the coaching role at the club. Xabi Alonso, after an unbeaten league season at Bayer Leverkusen, emerged as an apparent candidate. However, he ultimately decided to remain at Leverkusen, declining Bayern's advances.

Additionally, there were inquiries made about Erik ten Hag, who is currently in charge at Manchester United. But ten Hag remains committed to his current post. Another name on Bayern's radar was Julen Lopetegui, who recently joined West Ham, thus extinguishing any hopes of him taking up the reins at Bayern. Ralf Rangnick also engaged in discussions with Bayern, but in the end, he opted to maintain his role with the Austrian national team.
