Editor's Note: As China and France mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, and after Chinese President Xi Jinping's two-day state visit to France on May 5 to 7, both countries are embarking on a new journey of friendship and cooperation. In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's He Yanke sat down with former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, also recipient of China's Friendship Medal, during the Boao Forum for Asia on March 27 to discuss the trajectory of the Sino-French relation going forward and how both countries can work hand in hand to promote world peace and a new model of global governance. Raffarin regards President Xi as one of the world's greatest leaders "wielding great power and shouldering great responsibilities." Raffarin also talks about his experience of China's development over five decades and his admiration of the Chinese people's fortitude and achievements. He believes that respect and cooperation on common endeavors are conducive to mutual understanding, as well as a prerequisite for world peace in these uncertain times.
