Maoming City in south China's Guangdong Province is known as the "hometown of litchis" in China and is also the world's largest litchi production area. On average, one out of every five litchis in the world comes from Maoming. There is an ancient litchi orchard in the "hometown of litchis" with a history of over 2,000 years. Some thousand-year-old litchi trees are still bearing abundant fruit this year, and one has even helped rake in earnings of over 1 million yuan.
