Fuzhou is one of the earliest trading ports to open in China. Since the 19th century, a large number of Western merchants and consular personnel have come to work and live in the Kuliang area of Fuzhou, Fujian Province, and have forged deep friendships with the locals. A century-old well stirs up a century-old friendship and echoes Fuzhou's history of opening up. CGTN reporter Yang Xinmeng came to Kuliang, Fuzhou, with the "China Up Close" media team and interviewed journalists from the Maldives, Pakistan, Iran, the Cook Islands and Mongolia.
