Czech Tomas Machac claimed his biggest career win on Friday after edging out Serbia's world No. 1 Novak Djokovic 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 in the Gonet Geneva Open quarterfinal round.

Currently ranked No. 44 in the world, Machac will rise by 10 places after entering tour-level semifinal and final for the first time, as he sets up the final against the winner between two-time champions Casper Rudd of Norway and Italian Flavio Cobolli.

Djokovic conceded the first set after leading 4-1, and had to call a medical timeout appearing to struggle physically at times during the set. He then enjoyed a seven-game run and bageled the 23-year-old in the second set. But the 98-time tour-level titlist went down after the opening game of the decider, as Machac earned his second Top 10 win after downing Russia's world No. 6 Andrey Rublev in Miami earlier in March.

"I have no reaction right now, I just fought for every ball," Machac said. "When you play against Novak you just hope. You just try to play your best and see what it looks like."

Djokovic, on the other hand, expressed his concern on defending his title at Roland Garros, and potentially losing his top spot in the ATP standings to Italy's Jannik Sinner, having yet to reach any final this season.

"Of course I am worried... I haven't been playing good at all this year," Djokovic said.

"But I don't want to take anything away from his win, he deserved it. I don't know what to think about this match to be honest. I want to forget about it and move on to Paris."

"It was good that I could come here and play more than one match. I played three," Djokovic said. "I just need to feel better. It's not enjoyment when you are suffering on the court feeling this way. You're not able to focus on tennis when you have other stuff happening. I just hope I can be fit and ready and prepared for Roland Garros."

The French Open kicks off on May 26, when Djokovic is scheduled to take on local Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the first round.
