Team China, consisting of 73 Chinese para-athletes, ranked No. 1 after bagging a total of 87 medals during the 2024 Para Athletics World Championships, which ran from May 17 to 25 in Kobe, Japan.

It is the fifth time that China topped the medal table, after 1,073 para-athletes across the world have competed for 168 crowns during the championships.

Here is a review of Chinese para-athletes' amazing results: 33 golds, 30 silvers and 24 bronze medals this year.

T means track and F refers to field events, while the number after the letter T or F implies different impairments – for example visually impaired athletes are in the tens (T11, T12 and T13); athletes with co-ordination impairments are in the thirties (T31-38), according to paralympic.org.

"The number also represents the level of impairment; the lower the number within each impairment type, the more severe the impairment," noted World Para Athletics.
