Red Cross in Papua New Guinea: Rescue efforts face challenges

02:40

Papua New Guinea media have reported that more than 2,000 people were buried in a massive landslide, according to the country's national disaster center. The United Nations estimates that more than 670 people are dead. The landslide struck a remote village in the country's northern Enga province. Rescue efforts are ongoing but face logistical challenges. In an exclusive interview, officials from the Red Cross in Papua New Guinea spoke with CGTN reporter Chen Lanyou. They said the biggest challenge is bringing machinery to move the tonnes of earth and mud to find survivors.
