The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) presented more research outcomes related to the study and interpretation of modern Chinese civilization on Monday.
A total of 12 books and 10 papers were released during a press conference held in Beijing. From history philosophy to archaeology, aesthetics and languages, these research works not only focus on the basic issues of building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation but also offer in-depth insight and interpretation in specific fields.
During his speech at the event, Zhen Zhanmin, vice president of the CASS, said these works show important progress in the study and interpretation of a series of basic issues of modern Chinese civilization and demonstrate the value of social science researchers.

At the event, some editors and authors also introduced the background of the research, the framework and the main viewpoints of their works.
Taking a book on the prominent features of Chinese civilization for example, Zhang Zhiqiang, director of the Institute of Philosophy, CASS, said it is necessary to unveil the common principle of human civilization based on the study of the systematic relationship of the five prominent features of the Chinese civilization.
According to previous publications of the CASS, the five prominent features are consistency, originality, unity, inclusiveness, and peaceful nature, which reflect the law governing the development of the Chinese civilization.
While introducing the book "Studies on Language Identity of the Chinese Nation," Zhang Jun, associate research fellow of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, CASS, said their studies help understand how language contributes to the formation and development of the Chinese nation, and the uniqueness of Chinese civilization from the perspective of the cultural system.
