Live updates: Israel faces global outcry over Rafah strike

CGTN

Israel faced a wave of international condemnation on Monday due to an attack in Rafah that, according to Gaza officials, resulted in 45 fatalities when it ignited a fire that tore through a camp for Palestinian refugees on Sunday evening.

Israel said it was looking into the "tragic accident" and its impact on civilians after the strike, which it said had targeted and killed two senior Hamas operatives.

Expected Israel-Hamas talks on a hostage deal this week are in doubt as Hamas said it will not participate in any negotiation for a ceasefire or a prisoner exchange deal after Sunday's attack.

Reportedly, Israel is delaying its decision to resume hostage negotiations until it hears Hamas' position.
