A Council of Ministers meeting will formally approve the recognition of the State of Palestine on Tuesday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said, calling it a historic decision.
Speaking at Moncloa Palace, Sanchez said the recognition aims to help Israelis and Palestinians achieve peace, adding it's "not a decision that we make against anyone."
He said Spain will recognize a Palestinian state, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank with East Jerusalem as the capital. "Starting tomorrow we will concentrate all our efforts on making the two-state solution a reality," he concluded.
